Edwin Clark, South-South Leader and Former Federal Commissioner, Dies at 97



Chief Edwin Clark, a prominent Nigerian politician and leader, has sadly passed away at the age of 97. Reports from Daily Trust and Premium Times confirm that Clark died on Monday, February 17, 2025. 

He was a significant figure in Nigerian politics, having served as a former Federal Commissioner for Information and playing a vital role in the South-South region. Additionally, he was the chairman of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), which showcased his dedication to advocating for the interests of the Niger Delta people. 

Throughout his distinguished career, Clark collaborated with various administrations and was a respected voice for the Ijaw community. His death signifies the end of an era in Nigerian politics, and he will be remembered for his relentless advocacy for justice, equality, and human rights. 

The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has referred to Clark's passing as the fall of a "mighty Iroko tree," emphasizing his immense contributions to public service, politics, and community development over the past 75 years.
